We currently offer two types of membership. Enthusiast membership is available in 3-month or annual subscription periods for chocolate lovers in the US who want to receive monthly chocolate deliveries and access our community. We also offer a digital-only subscription that provides access to our online community.

Enthusiast members receive a curated selection of 4-6 specialty chocolates delivered monthly to their doorstep. Your membership also includes access to our online community and invitations to live, virtual "Meet the Maker" events where you can connect directly with featured chocolate makers. Enthusiast memberships are available in 3-month or 12-month terms and ship only within the United States.

Enthusiast members receive one chocolate shipment each month. We typically ship orders during the first or second week of the month, with timing adjusted based on weather conditions and our live event schedule.

You'll receive 4-6 specialty chocolates in each monthly shipment with an emphasis on specialty dark chocolate bars. Your delivery will include a mix of single-origin bars and inclusion bars, and may occasionally feature milk or white chocolate, drinking chocolate or chocolate-covered treats, depending on our featured maker and monthly theme.

Your monthly shipment focuses on specialty chocolate from craft chocolate makers around the world. While there is an emphasis on dark chocolate bars, we may occasionally include drinking chocolate, chocolate-covered treats or milk or white chocolate when they align with our monthly theme and meet our quality standards.

Custom selections are not currently available. We lovingly curate each month's selection to bring fresh and unexpected flavors to your doorstep. We're inviting you to join us on a journey of chocolate discovery, introducing you to chocolates you might not find on your own.

We ship chocolate to all states within the United States. We do not ship outside of the US. If you live outside of the US and would like to participate in our community you are welcome to purchase a Digital membership.
How do you ensure the quality of chocolates during shipping?

We closely monitor weather conditions at shipping destinations to minimize heat damage. During warmer weather, we use frozen gel packs and insulation to protect your chocolate during transit. We adjust our shipping schedule based on temperature forecasts to ensure your chocolate arrives in good condition.

If your chocolate arrives with heat damage or significant breakage, please report it within 2 days of receiving your box by emailing a photo to hello@chocolateexplorersclub.com. We're committed to ensuring you receive quality chocolate in every shipment and are happy to replace any heat-damaged bars at no charge. Your feedback helps us continuously improve our shipping methods to ensure you have a fantastic experience with every delivery.

We typically ship orders during the second week of the month, though timing may vary based on weather conditions and our live event schedule. You'll receive an email with tracking information when your box ships. If you won't be home, we recommend arranging for someone to receive your shipment. You also have the ability to Skip a shipment to suit your availability. Login to your Shopify account to manage your subscription.

You can update your shipping address by logging into your account on our website and visiting your account settings.

To update your payment method, log into your account and go to your billing information section. You can add a new payment method or update your existing card details there.
What is the cancellation policy?

You may cancel your membership at any time. After canceling, you'll continue to receive your benefits until the end of your current membership period. Canceling prevents your membership from renewing but does not cancel the current membership that has already been billed. We've loved having you as a member and hope to see you again soon!

When will my subscription be billed?

Subscriptions are billed when you sign up. They automatically renew on the first of the month following the end of your subscription period. For example, if you purchase a 3-month Enthusiast membership on December 15, your initial charge will be on December 15. When your 3-month subscription renews you will be charged on March 1.

When will I receive my chocolate?
The cut-off date for chocolate shipments is the second Tuesday of the month. If you purchase your subscription before the then, you'll receive your first shipment the same month as your purchase. If you purchase a subscription after the second Tuesday of the month, your first shipment will occur in the following month. The subscription period begins with your first shipment. If you purchased a 3-month subscription, you will receive three months of chocolate, beginning on the first shipment date.

We do not offer refunds for unused portions of subscriptions. However, you may cancel your membership at any time. After canceling, you'll continue to receive all member benefits until the end of your current subscription period, but your membership will not automatically renew. We will replace any chocolate that arrives damaged or is undelivered at no charge.

Log into the member portal on our community website to access links to live events. All events are held via Zoom and are recorded for future viewing, so you can catch up on any events you miss.

As a member you may login to our member portal to connect with other members. You'll find a community section with a member directory, forums, member-to-member discussions and member-only content, including recordings of past events.

Yes! Gift memberships are one-time purchases available for any membership length we offer. These are not subscriptions - they do not renew after the gift period ends.

No, all gift membership notices are digital and delivered via email.

Yes! We offer corporate gifting services for orders of 10 or more memberships or gift boxes. Our corporate gifting includes custom messaging and coordinated delivery to multiple shipping addresses. Are the chocolates suitable for people with dietary restrictions?

We source our chocolates from different makers who manufacture a range of products using shared equipment. Depending on your dietary restrictions, there may be some chocolates that are suitable for your consumption and some that are not. While many of the chocolates we feature are dairy-free, they may be made on shared equipment with common allergens including nuts, dairy, and gluten. The Chocolate Explorers Club™ is the evolution of Chocolopolis, a beloved Seattle chocolate shop that closed its doors in 2020. Founded by Lauren Adler, Chocolopolis was known for its carefully curated selection of craft chocolates from around the world. With over 15 years of experience in the specialty chocolate industry, Lauren serves as our Chief Chocophile and selects each chocolate in your monthly delivery, ensuring a diverse and exciting range of flavors, origins, and styles.

We prioritize chocolates made from high-quality cacao beans, crafted by skilled artisans who focus on flavor and quality. Our selection process draws on the same expertise that made Chocolopolis a trusted destination for craft chocolate lovers.
What does "ethically sourced" mean?
What does "ethically sourced" mean?
The craft chocolate makers we work with have shorter supply chains that enable more direct relationships with cacao producers. These direct-trade relationships typically result in cacao producers receiving higher prices for their beans, supporting living wages for farming families.
