Each month's box is built around a theme — and the chocolate is chosen to tell that story as well as possible. Bar sizes and prices vary significantly across makers, which is why your box contains 4–6 bars rather than a fixed number. We optimize every box for the theme, not a count.
Meet the Maker — live and archived
Every month our Chief Chocophile interviews the maker behind your chocolate in a live Zoom session. The maker leads the tasting bar by bar, sharing the cacao story, the origin, and the decisions behind each one. Members ask questions throughout. Every session is recorded and added to your member library.
Makers who know their farmers
The chocolate makers we work with maintain short, direct supply chains and close relationships with the farmers growing their cacao. That means better quality control, more transparent sourcing, and chocolate with a real story behind it.
How the subscription works
The Chocolate Explorers Club is a recurring subscription available in 1-month, 3-month, and annual plans. Existing subscriptions are charged on the 12th of each month and ship shortly after. New orders are accepted through the 20th. If you'd like to cancel, we recommend doing so before the 12th — if you cancel after that date, your subscription continues through the end of your current term and your remaining shipments will arrive as scheduled. Every month, a themed box of craft chocolate arrives at your door — selected from makers our Chief Chocophile knows personally, bars you'd be unlikely to find on your own. Open it, taste, and then join us live to hear the story behind every bar, straight from the people who made it.
What's in your box Each box contains 4–6 bars built around a monthly theme. The number varies because we optimize every box for the theme, not a fixed count — bar sizes and prices differ significantly across makers, and some cacao costs considerably more to source. A letter from our Chief Chocophile accompanies each box with maker background and the story behind each bar, so the live conversation picks up where the letter leaves off.

Meet the Maker — live on Zoom Once your box arrives, join our Chief Chocophile for a live interview with the maker. They'll walk you through each bar — the cacao, the origin, the decisions behind it — while you taste along. Members join from across the country; questions are welcome throughout. Can't make it live? Every session is recorded and archived in your member library.
A community that goes deeper Between tastings, connect with fellow members on our member-only website. Access recordings of every past Meet the Maker session, explore our curated chocolate shop maps for cities you're visiting, and find members in your area organizing local meetups. This is a community built around genuine curiosity — about chocolate, the people who make it, and the places it comes from.

Billing and shipping
Existing subscriptions are charged on the 12th of each month. Boxes ship shortly after the 12th. New orders are accepted through the 20th of each month — sign up by the 20th to receive your first box in time for that month's live Meet the Maker event.
Cancellations
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account. What happens next depends on your plan:
- 1-month subscribers: Your subscription renews monthly until you cancel. Cancel before the 12th to avoid being charged for the following month.
- 3-month subscribers: Your subscription is billed as a single 3-month payment upfront. If you cancel mid-term, no future charges will be made — but your subscription continues and your remaining shipments will arrive as scheduled through the end of your paid term.
- Annual subscribers: Your subscription is billed as a single annual payment upfront. If you cancel mid-term, no future charges will be made — but your subscription continues and your remaining shipments will arrive as scheduled through the end of your paid year.
